Chimney Inspection in Philadelphia, PA

A $59 inspection, and it is the full checklist — liner, cap and crown, flashing, mortar, damper, smoke chamber, firebox and hearth.

Family-owned, based at 17 Simons Way, Huntingdon Valley · serving Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs
$59 chimney inspection, listed on our specials page

What the inspection checks

  • The flue liner, for cracks, gaps and deterioration
  • The cap and crown, for damage that lets rain and animals in
  • The flashing where the chimney meets the roof
  • The mortar joints and masonry on the exterior stack
  • The damper, smoke chamber, firebox and hearth, for cracks and spalling

That is the same checklist on every job, not a shortened version, and we use a video camera where the flue cannot be seen from either end. Nothing on that list announces itself from the driveway.

How a Philadelphia chimney inspection works

One visit, and you see what we see before anything is recommended.

Book it for $59

The $59 inspection is a standing offer on our specials page, not a limited promotion. Mention it when you call.

We get up and look

Tall rowhome stacks on narrow streets are worked from a boom lift, and roof-accessible chimneys from the roof. Either way somebody gets to the top.

You see the findings

We walk you through the condition of the liner, the crown and the masonry directly, including the video footage where we took it.

You decide

If it is clear, you are done for the season. If something needs doing, you get a quote and choose. There are no surprise add-ons.

Chimney inspection questions from Philadelphia

What is included in the $59 chimney inspection?

The flue liner, the cap and crown, the flashing, the mortar joints and masonry on the stack, the damper and smoke chamber, and the firebox and hearth. It is the same full checklist we run on every job.

How often should a chimney be inspected?

Once a year, before burning season. That is the interval the fire codes are written around, and NFPA 211 is the standard that sets it. If you burn wood several times a week, a mid-season look is worth it as well.

Do gas fireplaces need inspecting?

Yes. A gas appliance does not build creosote the way wood does, but the venting, the connections and the flue still need checking once a year, and a blocked vent on a gas unit is a carbon monoxide problem.

Is an inspection the same as a sweep?

No. The inspection tells you the condition of the chimney. A chimney sweep removes creosote and debris. Most Philadelphia homes want the inspection first, because it tells you whether the sweep is even needed.

Can you inspect before I buy a house?

Yes, and a sensible one on an older Philadelphia rowhome where nobody can say when the flue was last opened. Call (215) 201-4371 and we will fit it to your timeline.

What it is often paired with

If the inspection finds creosote, that is a sweep. If it finds a failed flue, that is a liner. Both are on the specials page pricing where they apply.
