Tuckpointing, spalled brick, failed flashing, water coming in through the stack — repaired after an inspection that shows you the problem first.

Chimney inspection $59, and free quotes with no obligation
Philadelphia runs through freeze and thaw cycles all winter. Water gets into a hairline joint, freezes, widens it, and does it again next week. On a rowhome the stack is the most exposed masonry on the house.
Everything below the cap and above the firebox, quoted off what the inspection actually finds.
Crumbling mortar joints raked out and repointed, spalled brick replaced, and full rebuilds of the stack above the roofline where repointing will not hold.
Flashing repaired or replaced where the chimney meets the roof, which is where most chimney leaks start rather than in the brick.
A breathable sealer keeps rain out while letting the stack dry, so the freeze and thaw has less to work with.
Cracked flue tiles repaired and smoke chambers parged smooth. If the liner itself is gone, that is relining.
These are our own jobs, not stock photography.

Often you do not, which is why we look at the flashing, the crown and the mortar joints together. Flashing is the usual culprit on Philadelphia roofs, and cheap to fix next to the plaster it ruins if left.
It depends on the scope of the work. Philadelphia's Department of Licenses and Inspections is the authority on where a job falls. We check before work starts and tell you what yours needs.
If the brick faces are sound and only the joints have gone, repointing holds. Once the brick is spalling or courses have shifted, a rebuild above the roofline is the honest answer.
Inspections and interior work, yes. Fresh mortar and sealers need temperatures above freezing to cure, so exterior masonry is scheduled around the weather.
It depends on what is wrong and how much of the stack is involved, so we do not quote it blind. The inspection comes first, then the quote. Call (215) 201-4371.

A $59 chimney inspection is what the quote is built from. If the cap or crown is the problem, that is cap and crown work.
Repairs are quoted off a clean flue, so a chimney sweep often happens on the same visit.
