A pilot that will not stay lit, a switch that clicks and does nothing, yellow flames behind sooty glass, a blocked vent. We service gas fireplaces, inserts and gas log sets across Philadelphia.
Family-owned, based at 17 Simons Way, Huntingdon Valley · serving Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs
A full inspection of the flue your insert vents into is $59
A lot of Philadelphia fireplaces are gas inserts dropped into an old masonry chimney, which makes the appliance and the flue two problems. We check both, because a good insert still misbehaves if its chimney is blocked. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility first.
Gas appliances only. Cracked firebrick, firebox mortar and smoke chamber work belong to wood-burning fireplace repair.
The usual reason a gas fireplace will not stay lit. The pilot assembly is cleaned, adjusted and tested, and a weak sensor replaced.
Gas valves, spark igniters, wall switches, remotes and receivers, so it answers every time instead of once in three tries.
Gas logs reset to the manufacturer positions, burner ports cleared, air shutter adjusted, glass and gasket cleaned so it burns clean.
Direct vent and B vent runs checked for blockage, separation and downdraft, plus the flue inspection where an insert sits in masonry.
Founded by Rebecca and Avi Dadi, and still run by them.
We check the fireplace and the chimney it vents into.
You see what we found before any part is replaced.
Chimneys, air ducts and dryer vents — all in-house, so inspection, cleaning and repair are one visit.

Most often the thermocouple or thermopile is dirty or weak, so it stops telling the valve the pilot is lit. A blocked pilot orifice or a draft down the vent does the same. We confirm which before quoting.
Usually the logs have been moved, the burner ports are dirty, or the air shutter is set wrong. Gas logs have to sit exactly where the manufacturer put them. Soot also points at the venting.
It can if it is not burning or venting correctly, which is why a blocked vent or sooty appliance gets looked at. The EPA page on carbon monoxide indoors explains where it comes from.
Once a year, before the season starts. A gas appliance does not build creosote the way a wood fire does, but the pilot, valve, burner and venting still need checking in a Philadelphia home, and so does the flue it uses.
Yes. Gas inserts, gas log sets and stove pipe installation are all part of what we do across Philadelphia. Call (215) 201-4371 with the make and tell us what it is doing.
Tell us what it is doing — the pilot that drops out, the switch that does nothing, the soot on the glass — and we will tell you what it needs.

Where an insert vents into masonry, a full inspection of that flue is $59 on the same visit. Sweeping a wood flue is chimney cleaning. Both are on the specials page.
